Bushfire Recovery Projects

An ongoing bushfire recovery project has been running in the region supporting farmers and local residents to respond to the impacts from the 2013 bushfires. The projects have included: re-establishing fencing and shelter belts, undertaking weed control and re-establishing pastures.

Grant applications just closed for the  SMALL WEED CONTROL GRANTS FOR FIRE EFFECTED LANDS in the Central Highlands.  The funding  was available through a small grants program for projects up to $1000. Derwent Catchment NRM Committee would specifically like to fund projects where vegetation is not regenerating and weeds are dominating. If you are experiencing this on your property and or weeds have become a major problem since the fire please submit an expression of interest.  Closing date 30/09/2014
